It’s hard to believe the calendar has flipped to December already, and Halloween and Thanksgiving are memories, with Christmas knocking at the door. As I decorated my house this week, I began to think about all of the wonderful experiences my family and I have had in 2014. It’s so easy to get caught up in the nitty-gritty of day-to-day life and to complain about all of the things that didn’t go right, but this December, I’m trying to focus on the positive.
So, here are my 2014 highlights:
January- I officially joined FCMB! I have loved writing and sharing pieces of my life with everyone. This has been a stretch for me because I’ve never felt like I was a “good” writer (hopefully you disagree!)
February- All of those snow days seemed like a good idea at the time…until it was time to shovel and then make them up at the end of the school year!
March- I hit my 50 lbs. weight loss goal, my husband and I went on a much needed adults-only vacation, and we scored amazing seats to watch UCONN basketball in the Final Four (Elite Eight round).
April- I was on a running kick…and actually ran 4-5 miles several times. (That didn’t last long, sadly).
May- My second cousin came to visit from Australia! It was our first time meeting, but blood is thicker than water!
June- After wrapping up the school year, my husband and I got a weekend away to Boston to celebrate a close family friend’s daughter’s wedding.
July- My son turned 3, had an awesome party at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and was potty trained! Luckily, it was a relatively painless experience.
August- I spent the dog days of summer visiting with friends near and far.
September- As I started my twelfth year of teaching 4th grade, my son began his first year of preschool. His development and growth in only 4 months has been amazing. The right teachers and environment make all the difference.
October- My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. There hasn’t always been laughter, but there have always been roses of some sort!
November- I bought a new-to-me car. Holy cow – that was scary! It’s only my third car in almost 19 years of driving.
December- I’m turning 37 right before Christmas. Age is just a number, right?
Ten years ago, I hadn’t even met my husband, let alone imagined this wonderful life I’ve been blessed with. I’m so thankful to have my family, friends, and health.
So, looking back… how blessed were you in 2014?
