It might still be winter, but it’s that time of year when moms need to start thinking about summer plans. Any experienced mom knows that to stay sane during summer break, you must put those kiddos in camp! There are so many options to choose from. Whether your child is into sports, dance, performing arts, computer technology, or shows an interest in sleepaway camps, we’ve got you covered. NATIONAL COMPUTER CAMP AT FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY

National Computer Camp (NCC) is America’s original computer camp since 1977. Held at Fairfield University, NCC offers in-person, residential, day camps, and virtual camps. The coed campers ages 8-18 may attend 1, 2, or 3 weeks without repetition. The camp’s focus is coding, game design, Android App programming, and web page design. NCC offers beginner to advanced programming in several age-appropriate computer languages such as Java, C++, Python, and others. An optional recreation program is also available. Additional activities include build and fly a drone, Arduino computer lab, 3D printing, robotics, and chess. The camps are ideal for both experienced and first-time campers. NCC is not a summer school but a place where learning and fun are rolled into one. Scholarships are available, but funds are limited, so apply early.

SOCCER SHOTS SOUTHWEST CONNECTICUT

Soccer Shots is an engaging introductory soccer program for children ages 2-8, focusing on character development. They are committed to providing a positive growth experience for your child using an expert-approved curriculum to teach new character words and skills each week while having fun! Their curriculum is designed by education experts to meet children in an age-appropriate fashion where they are developmentally and is aligned with Connecticut’s Early Childhood Education Standards. SPRGOLF JR. ACADEMY

SPRGolf Jr. Academy is a summer clinic run by Stephen Roach and staff at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield, CT. The Signature PGA camp curriculum focuses on developing golf skills (full swing, short game, rules, and etiquette) while keeping the experience fun and engaging (games and activities). Sessions run weekly for ten consecutive weeks, offering half and full-day clinics. Students get on-course play time, instruction at the driving range, indoor video room tips, short game practice, and lots of fun drills. Clinics are limited to 20 students per session and will have a 6 to 1 ratio. Clinic dates go from Tuesday, June 20, through Friday, August 25.

Tips on Trips and Camps is a free advisory service connecting families to overnight summer camps, trips, academic programs, and other unique experiences. Their goal is to find the right match for your child from among their carefully screened and selected summer programs. They are much easier to use than Google!

CRYSTAL THEATRE

Crystal Theatre
Since 1987, Crystal Theatre has been Fairfield County’s leading performing arts center for children. Their rehearsal spaces are located in the Ben Franklin Community Center in historic South Norwalk, CT. They have programs available for children of all ages, from those as young as four to those entering their senior year of high school. Their new community theatre program offers the town a tuition-free community theatre that features original productions and covers show classics.
 

LONG RIDGE CAMP

Founded in 1962, Long Ridge Camp is proud to celebrate 60+ years of special summers provided by the Alswanger family and their dedicated staff! Long Ridge Camp in Stamford is Fairfield County’s Leading Summer Day Camp, serving a traditional day camp experience to campers from Fairfield and Westchester Counties ages 3 to 14. TIM MOREHOUSE FENCING CLUB

The Tim Morehouse Fencing Club summer camps are a great way for children from the greater Fairfield County area to learn about fencing while having fun at the same time. With experienced coaches and a safe environment, these camps provide an excellent opportunity for kids to develop their skills while making new friends. Moms who have enrolled their children at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club have loved the experience and raved about the impact the sport of fencing has had on their children! The club is led by Olympic fencer and coach Tim Morehouse, who has over 20 years of experience in the sport. He and his team of coaches provide top-notch instruction in all three weapons (foil, epee, and saber), footwork drills, strategy, and mental training. Learn, connect, and have fun this summer with Summer at St. Luke’s! Offering a wide range of programs, including arts, STEM, academic, skills building, and sports camps, St. Luke’s has something for everyone. Families have many dates, times, and options to choose from. Summer at St. Luke’s faculty and instructors are accomplished educators leading courses designed to engage and enrich. Programs run June through August for ages 4+. The majority of offerings are open to the public. Space is limited.

ST. LUKE'S SCHOOL SUMMER SPORTS CAMP

Spend the summer at St. Luke’s Multi-Sport Camp! Players of all levels enjoy the day playing soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey, basketball, squash, tennis, and more! Junior campers ages 4-7 learn the fundamentals of various sports with experienced and enthusiastic counselors. Campers ages 8-14 focus on developing individual and tactical skills, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Take advantage of St. Luke’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities in a fun and safe environment. Weeklong half-day or full-day sessions run from June 20 – August 4. Interested in a specific sport? Join their specialty camps; baseball, basketball, football, or squash. St. Luke’s camps are open to the public.

CAMP KIPPEWA POINT

Camp Kippewa

Camp Kippewa Point is a two-week camp experience for girls ages 6-13! Their warm and nurturing environment offers girls a classic camp experience with a set beginning, middle, and end. Their hybrid approach to scheduling allows Kippewa Point campers to explore everything they have to offer while also giving them a chance to spend extra time doing the activities they are excited to explore. At Kippewa Point, they intentionally work to develop connections between campers. They know that deep and meaningful relationships with camp friends and staff help foster growth, confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. At the end of their two weeks, they hope that girls have gained confidence, become more independent, feel proud of their accomplishments, and feel like the Point is their second family!

KING SCHOOL

King
Make this summer a time to discover new skills, explore new subjects, and have fun. Register your child today for Summer Institute (SI) at King, where Kindergarten-Grade 12 are taught in small classes by King’s outstanding teachers and coaches. Middle and high school classes allow students to pursue their academic passions and accelerate their progress in the next academic year. Academic courses are offered in math, science, computer science, performing arts, visual arts, global studies, and more. Many courses earn students academic credit. Classes vary from three weeks to six weeks. Fun Camp is a STEAM-based camp that allows younger students, Kindergarten-Grade 5, to grow and learn while keeping each age group’s physical, emotional, and intellectual needs in mind. EUGENE'S MUSIC & LEARNING STUDIO

Create a pod just for your group, or join a class with new faces at Eugene’s Music & Learning Studio! Preschool is out, and it’s time for their June Intro-to-Orchestra Camp! Join them for art, dance, and music. Your child will spend the week crafting musical instruments, dancing with partners and in groups, and meeting different orchestra instruments. Each week will feature a different theme! Please bring a light snack (crackers, goldfish, water); they will take a short break each day. For children ages 3-6 years (fully potty-trained). Camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Opportunities to meet private-lesson teachers will be available. Registration is by week! Campers can join for 1 or 2 weeks (Week 1: June 19-23 – $300, Week 2: June 26-30 – $300). Space is limited; please register to secure your spot. If there is a week you’d like to see added, please let them know!

 

FAIRFIELD COUNTY CHILDREN'S CHOIR MUSIC CAMP

Fairfield County Children's Choir

FCCC Music Camp is an immersive experience for children entering second through sixth grade who want to pursue a passion for choral singing! This one-week camp will promote personal growth as a singer, performance skills, and healthy vocal technique development. Together campers will celebrate the joy of music-making through rehearsals, creative movement, singing games, and folk dances from around the world with FCCC conductors. The week will conclude with a concert performance for families and friends! The camp will take place at Fairfield Warde HS in Fairfield from June 26-June 30 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The cost is $375, $350 for current FCCC members. Space is limited!

ROCK CLIMB FAIRFIELD

Rock Climb Fairfield

Rock Climb Fairfield likes keeping kids busy when they are out of school! RCF’s Climbing Camp programs are week-long indoor rock climbing programs designed for climbers of all abilities. Whether your climbers are new to the sport or they are ready to start taking their climbing to the next level, this camp provides a fun and age-appropriate environment to build the fundamentals of indoor rock climbing. Camp activities include indoor rock climbing, knot tying, and a variety of exciting climbing games. Full or half-day options are available, along with member and sibling discounts!

RISING STAR HORSE RESCUE

Rising Starr Horse Rescue saves, rehabilitates, retrains, and rehomes abandoned, neglected, or abused horses. They educate the public about at-risk horses and the importance of protecting them. Giving America’s horses a second chance at life allows the community to experience the love, patience, and compassion horses have for humans. They offer programs for children of all ages.  

GREENWICH A CAPPELLA

Greenwich A Cappella

Love to sing? Greenwich A Cappella Camp uses fun and engaging methods to teach your singer how to perform with confidence! Learn professional vocal techniques while building new friendships and singing popular songs you love. Each week-long session ends with a special camp performance. Check out their music videos to see why a cappella camp is perfect for your child! Greenwich A Cappella Camp is from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at First Church in Old Greenwich, with sessions from June 26-30 and August 7-11. Join for one session or two! No previous experience is needed; singers of all levels are welcome. Grouped by age, the Greenwich A Cappella Camp program is perfect for all rising kindergarten through eighth graders who love singing.

THE SOUTHPORT SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAMS

Southport School
No matter the school setting and academic curriculum, many students lose considerable momentum when they are away from school during the summer months. The Southport School (TSS) recognized this need with elementary and middle school children and established its summer program over 25 years ago. TSS Summer Programs offers integrated programs that are hands-on, dynamic, and fun. Classes are taught by an expert teaching staff trained in research-based remediation. All teachers are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, Lindamood- Bell’s Visualizing and Verbalizing, Executive Function Coaching, and Assistive Technology. They offer a 4-week program and two 2-week sessions from June 29-July 28 for students entering grades 1-9. 

THE HARVEY SCHOOL

The Harvey School

Harvey Summer Camp offers various programs, allowing your children to choose from many options on one sprawling campus featuring open fields, wooded trails, state-of-the-art facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, and an indoor ice rink!

Day Camp for Grades 2-8: Campers will enjoy activities in the arts, sports, science, and theater, as well as games and camp-wide events. The wide variety of offerings allows campers to explore different interests while introducing them to new activities.

Rising 1st Graders and 9th Graders: Campers entering first grade in September can enjoy a program of fun and exploration designed just for them! Young teens entering high school this fall will enjoy a program created to let them have a summer of fun before the rigors of high school begin. Harvey’s youngest and oldest campers will surely enjoy a summer to remember!

Art Camp, Sports Camp: Campers entering Grades 5-8 can take a more in-depth approach to explore their interests in the arts, dance, or sports!

Circus Arts, Robotics, Basketball, Volleyball, and Coding Camps: See their website for information and dates particular to these specialty programs.

Camps run from June 26 through August 4, 2023, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are closed on July 3 & 4.

EVERWONDER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

Summer of Science 2023! As always, there’s something for everyone at EverWonder. What’s your child’s “ology?” Each week will excite and inspire your child into the world of STEAM, from Archeology (Let’s DIG!) to Zoology (Animal Science) and a whole variety in between! Registrations for all programs will close two weeks prior to the start date. Camp runs July- August; Monda – Friday; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. for incoming grades K-4. The cost is $225-$250 and discounts are available to members.

CENTER STAGE THEATRE

Center Stage Theatre

Center Stage Theatre is an inclusive and intergenerational community-based theatre providing high-quality, affordable performances, educational programming, and volunteer opportunities. Located in Shelton, the theatre produces five full-scale productions a year, including its annual Youth CONNection summer musical and year-round theatre education for adults and students in grades K-12. Founded in 2005 by Gary and Francesca Scarpa, Center Stage is a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre attracting actors and audiences from throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties and was named “Best Community Theater” by Connecticut Magazine’s “Best of CT 2022” round-up. Its Summer Camp 2023 offerings include Rising Star 70s (Grades K-2) June 26-30; Rising Star 80s (Grades K-2) July 31-August 4; All Over the World (Grades 3-8) July 3-15; All Shook Up (Grades 3-8) July 17-28; Broadway Bootcamp (Grades 7-8 – experience necessary) July 24-28.
