Fairfield County Mom turns 10!

Ten years ago, Fairfield County Mom launched as Fairfield County Moms Blog with the simple goal of connecting local moms. My best friend from elementary school founded the site, and I was eager to assist and take on the role of a contributor. As a part of City Mom Collective, we wanted to share products and resources that make life easier and celebrate the different parenting perspectives and experiences in our community.

My twins were born only three days before the site launched. I was a busy mom (and teacher) trying to figure out how to manage three babies (my oldest was only two!). Life was extremely chaotic, and at the time, I craved something of my own. I loved writing and documenting my journey as a new mother. I enjoyed reading my fellow contributors’ posts and thinking, “Thank God I’m not the only one.”

Fairfield County Mom pushed me out of my comfort zone. I pushed myself as a writer and allowed myself to be vulnerable. I learned coding and graphic design and how to manage social media. As time went on, I grew to become the Editor-in-Cheif and then a co-owner of the site. Then expanding and taking on ownership of Westchester County Mom in New York.

Today I am the sole owner of both sites and am fully supported by my amazing team, family, and friends. My favorite thing about being a local site owner is the women I have met and the connections that I have made. I’ve become friends with women I would never have crossed paths with.

Through Fairfield County Mom, we are helping moms everywhere feel a little less alone and more empowered to tackle the challenges and triumphs of motherhood.

Our contributor team has grown to represent 35 local moms living throughout Fairfield County. They are opening up and sharing about their lives as mothers (the good, the bad, and the tantrums), hoping that at least one mom feels a little less alone.

Over the past ten years, we’ve become so much more than a mommy blog. Fairfield County Mom has grown to be a locally-focused parenting resource for moms and families. We are connecting area moms to relevant resources, local businesses, can’t-miss happenings, and most of all — each other!

Thank you for following along on this journey. I am so excited about the future for moms in our community!

Michelle
Michelle is the Owner and Editor of Fairfield County Mom and Westchester County Mom. Born and raised in Norwalk, she now lives in Fairfield, CT, with her husband, Chris, whom she married in 2008, back when she thought she was “busy.” Fast forward to life with her son Shane (2011), twins Blake and Brynn (2013), a black Lab named Hank, and a Frenchie named Bruce, and she now laughs at her pre-mom self. By day, Michelle is a second grade team leader at a local public school, which means she’s a chaos-managing, data-collecting superhero in sensible shoes. By night, she’s a list-making, laundry-folding, sideline-cheering multitasker who runs on coffee and Diet Coke (RIP tequila). She believes in storytelling, building community, and finding the humor in this wild ride called motherhood (preferably from the quiet of her parked car).
