The Hangout Spot Helps Children Build Success — One Friendship at a Time

Social skills are a critical foundation for a happy and fulfilling life. No matter how intelligent or capable a child may be, the ability to connect with others, build relationships, and navigate social situations plays a defining role in long-term success.

That belief is what led founder Meghan Perazella to create The Hangout Spot—a social skills development center designed to help children build confidence, connection, and independence in a way that feels natural and engaging.

With locations in Norwalk and Stamford, The Hangout Spot provides evidence-based, ABA-informed programming that creates meaningful, real-world outcomes.

“It’s incredibly powerful to see children who once struggled socially begin to form friendships, navigate peer dynamics, and feel more confident in themselves,” said Perazella. “That kind of growth is life-changing.”

What sets The Hangout Spot apart is its individualized and highly intentional approach.

“Every child is different, and their support should reflect that. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach—our programming is tailored, comprehensive, and rooted in science,” Perazella explained.

Equally important is the role families play in the process.

“We partner closely with parents to define what success looks like for their child, and then we work collaboratively to achieve it. That alignment is a key part of what drives results,” she said.

At The Hangout Spot, sessions are designed to feel less like therapy—and more like real life.

“Our philosophy is to make practice look like play,” Perazella said. “Whether it’s a structured activity or a more natural ‘hangout’ setting, children are learning and practicing skills in ways that translate directly to their everyday lives.”

Programs Designed for Real-World Success

  • The Hangout Spot (Core Program): Small-group, structured social skills sessions for children ages two through young adulthood, focused on building peer relationships, communication, and confidence. 1:1 support is also offered in-center and in-school for children who require an additional level of care.
  • Between the Bells: Short-term, high-impact intensive programs offered during school breaks to reinforce and accelerate skill development.
  • The Skills School: A training platform that extends The Hangout Spot’s expertise to educators, professionals, and parents.

For many families, The Hangout Spot becomes more than just a service—it becomes a place where children feel understood, supported, and capable.

“It’s more than just a program—it’s a place where kids are celebrated for who they are,” one parent shared.

For Perazella and her team, that impact is what drives everything they do.

“At the core of our mission is helping children build meaningful relationships and live more connected, fulfilling lives,” she said. “There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing that come to life.”

The Hangout Spot is currently enrolling for upcoming and ongoing programs at both its Norwalk (124 East Avenue) and Stamford (80 Mill River Street) locations.
