At Fairfield County Mom, supporting local small businesses isn’t just something we talk about; it’s central to who we are. This year, we were proud to host a Small Business Giveaway, offering one local business a custom advertising campaign valued at $2,000 to be used in 2026.
The goal was simple but meaningful: to shine a light on the hardworking entrepreneurs who serve our community and help them grow their reach among local families.
The response was overwhelming in the best way possible. We received 30 thoughtful, inspiring entries from small business owners across Fairfield County, each sharing their story, their passion, and the impact they make every day. Narrowing it down was no easy task.
After reviewing all submissions, three finalists were selected, and our Fairfield County Mom contributor team voted to choose the winner. Today, we are thrilled to announce the recipient of our Small Business Giveaway…
Congratulations to MHS Contracting!
MHS Contracting is a local, woman-owned “handy ma’am” business owned by Amanda Bryan, and her story truly embodies the heart of this giveaway.
MHS Contracting operates with a simple but powerful philosophy: no job is too small. Amanda understands what it’s like to work hard for your family, want a comfortable home, and still need to stay within a budget. Her goal isn’t to overcharge or upsell; it’s to build long-term relationships with clients who trust her for all their handyman needs.
Originally started by her cousin, the business experienced a heartbreaking loss when he passed away unexpectedly due to a heart condition. Since then, Amanda has stepped in and reshaped the company with care and intention. Today, MHS Contracting is run by Amanda and two additional team members, serving many elderly clients and families who rely on them for everyday tasks—everything from changing lightbulbs to moving patio furniture with the seasons.
At its core, MHS Contracting is about personal connection, compassion, and community, and we are honored to support Amanda and her business in the year ahead.
