The New Year brings thoughts of a fresh, clean start! We usually declutter our homes to make way for new gifts during the holidays, but we also need to declutter our digital lives. This includes emails and, of course, all the photos and videos we take.
I’ve used Unroll.me for my subscription emails, but there are quite a few products to check out to see if they are right for cleaning up your inbox.
- Clean.Email: This gives you suggestions for cleaning up, will create “smart folders, and bulk delete. It can also filter by different senders, such as automatic mailing lists, and manage subscriptions, including pausing them. There are a variety of paid plans available. It also has Apple and Android apps available.
- Mailsweeper: This is very basic software that you install and set your preferences for unimportant emails; it “sweeps” them into the “dustpan.” There is a one-time fee for lifetime use.
- Sanebox: Offering a variety of features, including unsubscribe, reminders to follow up on emails, a daily digest of important emails you haven’t read yet, and “snooze” can hold important emails until you’re ready to look at them at a better time. There are a variety of plans available.
- Unroll.me: This product will go through your subscriptions and let you keep, block, or “rollup” certain emails. The “rollup” feature will send certain subscription emails to a folder in your inbox, summarizing them on a daily schedule. It is free and has Apple and Android apps available.
Photos and videos can also take up a lot of space on our phones and computers. Of course, we want to save our memories in a safe space, but they don’t always need to be directly on our phones or computers. You can always use an external hard drive to store those photos, purchase extra storage if required, or create albums on Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc. However, you may also want to get rid of duplicate or blurry photos, or really long videos of the inside of your purse. Here are a few apps to try to clean up those photos.
- Clever Cleaner: This free iPhone app quickly scans photos, compresses large files, and sorts them by size.
- Cleaner Guru: This is another free iPhone app that finds duplicate photos efficiently, compresses videos, and cleans up contacts and other large files.
- Files by Google: This app provides cleaning recommendations and adds additional search features to your Google files.
- Duplicates Photo Remover: This app scans your photos for duplicates efficiently and groups them for you. It will also scan images in your messages.
