Fairfield County Donut Shops

Donuts in a box.Did you know that the first Friday in June is National Donut Day? I don’t know about you, but I’ll take any excuse to pick up a sweet treat from one of Fairfield County’s most popular donut shops. Here’s a round-up of some of our favorites. Which ones have you tried?

Coffee An’ Donut Shop (Westport): This local favorite makes fresh classic donuts and coffee. Be sure to try the glazed stick and come prepared – they are cash only.

Donut Delight (Norwalk/Stamford – multiple locations): Who doesn’t love a drive-thru? Especially when you can get a caffeine fix and snag a yummy treat! The blueberry cake donut or chocolate-glazed are must-try donuts.

Doughnut Inn (Fairfield/Stratford): This spot has been open for over 30 years, and the donuts are always fresh. The staff is also always friendly. They also offer an extensive breakfast menu! Order their Boston cream or glazed donut, and thank us later.

Dunkin’ Donuts (Everywhere!): Quick, cheap, easy, and predictable!

Grounds Donut House (Danbury): Oversized gourmet donuts. Rotating flavors, ranging from the classic (glazed) to the unique (Fruity Pebbles, anyone?).

Lakeside Diner (Stamford): The word on the street is that people travel for miles to taste these sweet treats. They make one kind of donut, and it’s out of this world! It’s best to get there in the morning when they are fresh.

Isabelle et Vincent (Fairfield): A small, traditional French bakery – not a traditional donut shop – but they are widely known for having some of the most delicious, high-quality donuts and pastries around.

Plasko’s Farm (Trumbull): Also not a traditional donut shop, but they sell award-winning apple cider and pumpkin spice donuts in their expansive bakery and cafe. Don’t forget to grab a pint of fresh homemade ice cream on your way out!

So Fresh Doughnut Co. (Stamford): Gourmet mini donuts that will make your mouth water. I bet you can’t eat just one!

Speedy Donuts (Norwalk): This mom-and-pop shop has no frills, just sugary goodness. Try the apple spider, which is a gigantic apple fritter. Delicious!

Rise Doughnuts (Wilton): A family business born during the pandemic, serving up craft donuts until they sell out (which happens fast, so be sure to follow along for line updates and that week’s flavors on Instagram). They have begun to expand their menu to include toasts and other delights such as warm apple fritters a la mode.

Uncle Leo’s Coffee & Donuts (Wilton/Redding): They specialize in making old-fashioned hand-cut donuts. Breakfast and lunch are also served daily!
