Online Mommy Shortcuts

A mom shopping online while her baby plays. All mommies are busy, especially at this time of year! How does any mom have time to survive the day-to-day grind of parenting and maintain a functional household between birthday parties, play dates, holiday parties, and local events? With only 13 days left until Christmas, I fear that my to-do list is getting longer by the minute! As a mother of 3 children under the age of 3, I am always looking for easy ways to get things done. Luckily I have found three amazing online shortcuts. These websites have saved me time AND money.

PEAPOD
As a working mommy, the only time I have to go grocery shopping is late at night (when I’m way too tired) or over the weekend (just the thought of taking three kiddies to an overcrowded store makes my head hurt). Fortunately, I discovered Peapod! You can order your groceries online –even the day before if you’re in a jam –and they can either be picked up at a nearby Stop & Shop or delivered to your refrigerator door. They have a simple and easy-to-use smartphone app with several features to make shopping a breeze.

I love that you can access all of your previous orders. I usually quickly reorder items and then search for additional items I may need. As items are added to your cart, you can watch the amount you spend. I save a lot more money than when I’m walking up and down every aisle grabbing products that are not on my list. Their customer service is also great. I’ve had to call three times about an error or an item that was not as fresh as I would have liked, and they refunded my account…no questions asked!

SEAMLESS
I dread dinnertime! I have mastered a few simple recipes, but I still have my favorite take-out places on speed dial. But sometimes, I want to mix it up and try something new. That’s where Seamless comes in hand. All you have to do is enter your address, and up pops all the nearby restaurants where you can pick up an order or choose to get it delivered. Then you order whatever you are in the mood for. They send the order to the restaurant and tell you how long until it will be ready. Special offers and coupons will be emailed to you if you create an account, saving you more money on take-out.

FAMILYHOOD
About three years ago, I discovered diapers.com. I began ordering all diapers, formula, and baby products online. I found that it was cheaper and easier than going to the store. Since then, the company has added multiple family sites covering every aspect of online shopping. They claim to “Help you shop for everything your family needs. From pet food to laundry detergent, from lipstick to throw pillows, from kids’ toys to ballet shoes, we’ve got it covered.” Any order over $49 automatically receives free shipping…and they are fast. I once placed an order at 4:30 PM and received the package the following evening! Also, orders can still be shipped together if you buy from multiple sites. They send tons of promotional emails that allow for even more savings! I love that it’s a one-stop-shop!

By day, Michelle is a second grade team leader at a local public school, which means she’s a chaos-managing, data-collecting superhero in sensible shoes. By night, she’s a list-making, laundry-folding, sideline-cheering multitasker who runs on coffee and Diet Coke (RIP tequila). She believes in storytelling, building community, and finding the humor in this wild ride called motherhood (preferably from the quiet of her parked car).
