This has been the year I finally took up golfing! My husband has played his entire adult life and always encouraged me to join him. For Mother’s Day way back in 2008, right after I gave birth to my second child, he even went as far as buying me a set of golf clubs. They sat in the garage, traveled across the country, and continued to look sad and dusty until this year. I took lessons in spring into summer and checked off a life bucket list item: playing a round of golf!
I have found that golf is a versatile activity you can enjoy with your significant other, child, older parent, or even on a mom’s day out. So whether you are an experienced golfer or just picking up clubs for the first time, get out there and enjoy! Check out all the fantastic public golf courses in Fairfield County.

It’s fun to try new golf courses in our area, and I have discovered some life lessons along the way.
Patience: I have always believed that I am a patient person. No, no, no, this is a new kind of patience. Patience with myself is quite different than patience for other people, especially my children. As frustrating as that is, I’m learning to cut myself some slack and take my time.
Focus: I don’t know about anyone else, but I feel I’ve lost the ability to focus over the last few years. Learning to play golf is helping me stay focused on what I’m doing.
Humility: Wow, I have a lot of work to do, and I bow down to those who stick with this and know it only goes up from here.
