I am ready to welcome in the spring. The days are getting longer, and dare I say warmer. This past winter has been brutal, with all the snow and frigid temperatures that have forced everyone to stay inside. I feel like I’m running out of ideas to keep everyone entertained.
I remember when my kids were younger, and I could keep them busy by reading an insane amount of animal books and singing the same songs repeatedly. But now, all they want to do is play video games.
A few years ago, my youngest son was obsessed with singing “Old MacDonald” and would laugh hysterically at each animal sound. It then led to much discussion about the animals on farms – what they look like, what they eat, how their mommies take care of them, etc.
Today, my son is now laughing at fart sounds, but he still loves all those farm animals! Our family has always been a huge fan of Silverman’s Farm. We spent hours running around looking at the animals, feeding them, and playing on the playground. Now my kids are running around on the sports field, but we can still squeeze in a family outing with some animal friends.
Here is a list of local Fairfield County locations where you can see and interact with various types of animals. I’m looking forward to discovering new places this spring with my whole family. It doesn’t matter how old your kids are. Whether you are singing “Old MacDonald” or snickering at the bodily functions of the animals, you will still have a blast with the family!

Thank you for this! We love all things farm in this house. Last summer, we lived near Muscoot Farm in Katonah, NY, but that’s the only place that I know to go. Muscoot is still worth the drive for us (we love it there!), but we will definitely also be checking your list of places out. Hopefully sooner, rather than later… hurry up Spring!

Hi Maria! It was great meeting you! Silverman’s Farm is our favorite place to visit the animals. It would be easy for you to go and keep the baby in a stroller or carrier. Any of the local nature centers would be manageable as well, and Stew Leonard’s is great for a quick trip
