Fairfield mom Lindsay Orr was up to her ears in LEGO® sets at home. “I kept telling my husband David that we needed a solution for our kids’ growing LEGO collection. When we found out about a store that let people trade in their built LEGO sets for new ones instead of just adding more and more, as a mom, my interest was sparked!”
Enter Bricks & Minifigs, an authorized LEGO retailer specializing in all things LEGO, new and used. Besides carrying all the newest LEGO sets, they offer an evolving selection of used sets, bulk LEGO pieces, a huge selection of LEGO minifigures, and a Build-A-Fig table.
Every corner of Bricks & Minifigs Fairfield will be stocked with something for every age, price point, and phase of LEGO-fandom. Kids can build their own custom minifigure at the Build-A-Fig table or check out the “allowance case” with special pre-built vehicles and small sets for $5, $10, or $15.
Adult Fans of LEGO (affectionately called AFOLs in the LEGO community) can find rare retired sets they have been coveting or used sets that have been “certified” to have every piece counted. Creatives of all ages can search through their three large Bulk Tables to find the perfect pieces for their own LEGO MOCs (My Own Creation).
The unique store also has a buy/sell/trade model and welcomes the community to sell their used LEGO products for cash or store credit. When Lindsay and her husband David brought their kids up to the Southington, CT location to do just that, their interest grew.
“What we saw was not only a great place for kids to find new LEGO sets and for parents to be able to save a bit of money and counter space, but a welcoming and fun place for people of all ages to shop, gather, and create. We wanted to bring that to Fairfield County,” says Lindsay. The parents of two elementary-aged children have spent countless hours building as a family and have seen first-hand how LEGO products can facilitate connection.
The Orrs intend to make Bricks & Minifigs Fairfield the go-to place for local LEGO® fans and create an inclusive spot to gather. “Our family gets so much benefit from sitting together to build,” says Lindsay. “It’s a way to work together and to see a finished product we can all be proud to have done as a team. We want to provide a space where people can do just that.”
Their party room will be available for LEGO-themed birthday parties, as well as community nights, building competitions, derby-track races, and more.
“Our favorite thing about LEGO is that it truly is for EVERYONE,” says Lindsay. “The benefits that LEGO products can bring to a family or an individual are boundless – from creative expression to fine-motor skills, to team-building, or just zen-ing out on a build – we think that LEGO is pretty awesome.”
