As we approach back-to-school season, it is the perfect time to think about little getaways with our kids. In our family, we like to continue summer fun on the weekends whenever possible. The perfect place to do this is the Kartrite Resort! The Kartrite is an indoor waterpark (and more!), located in Monticello, New York – an easy drive from Fairfield County.

The Kartrite Resort’s motto is “bringing modern to the mountains,” which could not be more true!

We arrived just in time for the waterpark opening at 11:00 a.m. and stayed for hours! With a one-night stay, two full days of waterpark tickets are included. All of us had a blast enjoying the attractions.

My oldest son’s favorite was the lazy river, and my younger two kids truly enjoyed the water slides. The slides are my favorite, too!

No matter the age, there is something for everyone. There are slides of all levels, multiple splash pads, an awesome lazy river, a hot tub and outdoor pool, an obstacle course, pool basketball, and a very cool wave-riding experience.

The fun does not stop at the water park, of course! The resort has an arcade, laser tag, bowling, a ropes course, and plenty of scheduled activities to keep kids busy and entertained. What is unique about Kartrite is its beautiful courtyard. In the courtyard, there are firepits for roasting marshmallows, different outdoor games to play, a jungle gym area for kids, hiking trails, and activities such as archery offered on the weekends.

We snacked on eats from the Surfside Grille at the waterpark during the day and decided on Bixby’s for dinner, where my children loved the children’s menu option names! The kids' menu.

And, if you are like me and need your morning coffee, The Highline is your spot. My children enjoyed ice cream and sweets from the ice cream shop, while my husband and I enjoyed adult beverages. There really is something for everyone at Kartrite.

Finally, the suites are incredible! As a family of five, we often feel cramped inside hotel rooms. This is certainly not our experience at Kartrite. We stayed in the Family King Bunk Suite, which is perfect! There is so much space, and the room sleeps eight people.

Separate from the main area, which offers a king-size bed and a couch that is also a pull-out bed, is a room with four bunk beds. My kids liked that they had their own space. This room also had a balcony that looked out to the beautiful courtyard.

Above all else, everything is absolutely spotless! Every part of the resort is very well taken care of. The staff is friendly and very accommodating.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway this fall (or really any time of the year), I highly recommend the Kartrite Resort. The Resort is a short distance from other noteworthy attractions like Resorts World Catskills Casino, Holiday Mountain, and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, offering families to explore all the great offerings of the Catskill Mountains area.
