These days, there are thousands of options available for cleaning your home. Some are staples that have been around since our grandmothers were raising our parents; others have recently appeared on the market. It can be intimidating to decide what cleaning products to use, but factoring in what products are gentle on the environment and your loved ones adds a level of complication.
To aid in your decision-making process, I will review some of my favorite green household products. None of these are sponsored; they are simply the items I have grown to love for my own home.
Mrs. Meyers Everything
I have a Mrs. Meyer’s addiction. From hand soap to dish soap, cleaning spray, and soy candles, there is literally no product of theirs that I will not buy. Their scents are fantastic (Rosemary and Lemon Verbena are my favorites), and one of the most essential aspects of Mrs. Meyer’s products is that they are “Leaping Bunny Certified.” This means they contain no animal products and are not tested on animals (fellow vegans rejoice!).
Seventh Generation Natural Dish Soap
When you have a baby and need to clean millions of bottles every day (okay, maybe that is a slight exaggeration), it is important to remember to invest in some fragrance and dye-free dish soap. I have tried at least three other brands of soap, and I have found that this Seventh Generation product works the best at removing the milk film. Like Mrs. Meyer’s, Seventh Generation products are also “Leaping Bunny Certified.” Rejoice again!
Nature’s Promise Plant-Based Glass Cleaner
Full disclosure, I used Windex to clean my windows and mirrors for a long time. It was not until my daughter was born that I decided it was time to switch to something less harsh. I am currently trying out the Nature’s Promise glass cleaner. It does a good job and doesn’t leave streaks, but honestly, I am still in the process of searching for a glass cleaner to fully commit to. I also love their hand soap!
