The Right Tools For the Job

A woman loading the dishwasher. There was a time when cleaning my kitchen felt like an endless battle. Scrubbing dishes by hand after every meal and wiping down surfaces with old rags that seemed to spread the mess around was exhausting. Then, two simple things changed everything: a functioning dishwasher and microfiber cloths. Suddenly, my daily chores became quicker, easier, and more efficient.

It made me realize something: having the right tools in your life isn’t just about convenience; it’s about reclaiming your time and energy for what truly matters.

Before my dishwasher worked, I spent so much time washing dishes that I barely had a moment to breathe between meals. Now, I load everything in, press a button, and walk away. Similarly, my disposable microfiber cloths have turned a tedious cleaning process into a quick wipe-and-toss routine. No more dealing with grimy sponges and old, musty rags; these things clean everything! I clean, toss, and move on.

This shift got me thinking about how often we struggle through life using the wrong tools simply because we’re used to things being difficult. Whether in motherhood, work, or relationships, we sometimes accept inefficiency and frustration as the norm when all we really need is a better system.

I resisted disposable cloths for so long because I felt I should use reuseable ones. I also convinced myself that washing dishes by hand was just part of the routine.

But why? Who decided that struggling through something inefficient makes it more meaningful? When we allow ourselves to work smarter, not harder, we free up energy for the things that bring us joy.

What are your “Dishwashers?”

Think about the areas in your life that feel unnecessarily hard. Can a tool, system, or mindset shift make things easier?

Maybe it’s:

When we equip ourselves with the right tools, whether physical items, strategies, or even a new perspective, we make space for what really matters.

So, if you need permission to make your life easier, here it is: Get the dishwasher and buy the disposable cloths. Use whatever tools help you spend less time scrubbing and more time living. You deserve it!

What’s one area of your life where the right tool or system could make things easier? Is there something stopping you from making the switch?
