Inspiration Found on a Fitness App

peletonMy morning workout routine before January 2021 consisted of a few struggled miles on the treadmill while binge-watching whatever shows I could stream before my family awoke for the day.

That was until my best friend sent me a link for a free trial of a fitness app. She had drunk the spinning kool-aid hard and had the fancy bike to show for it. How would my pathetic Amazon treadmill hold up in a running class? I had to find out!

My current workouts are as follows: running faster than I thought my treadmill could handle, pushing myself to upbeat ’80s, ’90s, and artist series runs. My children are also enjoying family workouts, yoga, and meditation.

Besides the sweat, music, and fun, it is the instructors and their inspiring, motivating words that keep me coming back each day.

They have told me more things this past month than I think I’ve needed to hear out loud for a long time. Their words throughout the workouts give me a new perspective, strength, and acceptance going into my day.

So if you haven’t heard any of this lately, you may need to hear it now. These are some of my favorite quotes from fitness app online instructors:

“You’ve made it through 100% of the bad days you had.” Robin Arzon

“Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.” Maya Angelou via instructor Matty Maggiacomo

“Everything you could want, have, or need is inside you.” Kristin McGee (fellow twin mom, BTW) ends each meditation and yoga class I’ve taken with these words.

“Your life is enough in all of its complexities; you are walking the path that is right for you. You are enough right here because you are exactly where you need to be right now. Whenever you begin to fall into that trap of comparison or feeling you are not enough, remind yourself I’m exactly where I need to be” Kristin McGee – 10-minute happiness meditation.

“Stresses, worries, concerns, anxieties, judgments, expectations, pressures, and comparisons, none of these serve us. Protect your peace.”  Jess Sims – Year of Yes Run

“Control what you can; let the rest go.” Rebecca Kennedy – Miley Cyrus Run

“You are kind, you are powerful, you are strong.” Adrian Williams – Year of Yes Run

What is something that inspires you?

Jamie is a mom to a daughter (2014) and boy/girl twins (2016) and rescue rabbit Gilbert. She was born and raised in Westchester County, NY and together with her husband (married in 2011), made Danbury, CT their hometown. She is fortunate to have found two dream jobs: a licensed Connecticut real estate agent with The Valentini Team at Coldwell Banker Realty and Children’s Programming Assistant at her local library. Both bring her joy because they allow her to help others—guiding families as they find a place to call home and inspiring children to develop a love of learning and reading from an early age. Before anyone in her house is awake, she can be found at Burn Bootcamp or on the Peloton leaderboard, which fuels her long days of work and momming. Morning workouts are as athletic as she gets, although getting her children to all their activities is like an Olympic sport, and her favorite thing is tucking her children in at night and catching up on whatever show she is streaming. As much as she loves staying in, she doesn’t pass up a night out or weekend away with her childhood girlfriends or a date night with her hubby.
