Howdy, yβall! Iβm Jessica, and Iβm a mom to an adorable seven-month-old baby boy {as well as a lovable seven-year-old cocker spaniel}. My husband and I have lived in Newtown for five years now and love it.

As you may have guessed from my greeting, I am not a native New Englander! I grew up an hour south of Houston, fifteen minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. Cool and dry, it was not, which makes Fairfield Countyβs beautiful weather one of my favorite things about living here. Yes, I had to learn to drive in the snow, but these beautiful summers? These amazing falls and incredible springs? Iβll take them over hot and humid anytime!
I still miss Texas, but Connecticut has become home to my husband and me, and although neither of us can say we hail from Fairfield County, our son will be able to do just that. And we canβt wait to show him all this area has to offer! We love hiking and being outdoors. You can often find us at Huntington Park or in one of Newtownβs many forest spaces. We love lounging at Jennings Beach in Fairfield or taking a day trip to Block Island, Rhode Island, in the summer.

We enjoy going out to restaurants and have our favorites in the area {Iβm looking at you, Stanziatoβs Pizza!} but we also love to cook. When summer rolls around, we have a great time picking up ingredients at local farmerβs markets and the many pick-your-own farms here. I was nervous when our little guy first started solid foods, but now Iβm having fun making his food as well. Fingers crossed, we have a little foodie on our hands!
We love going into the city and tackling do-it-yourself home improvement projects. Outside of our home, I teach in a local school district and volunteer at our church. I love to organize {and reorganize}, and I canβt focus if the house isnβt clean. Iβm trying to let go a little on that last one, though. Iβm a work in progress!
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.

I still feel like a rookie at this mom thing, but Iβm thrilled to have this opportunity to share what I learn along the way. I canβt wait to share my experiences, the good and the bad, learn from and connect with other moms, and hear even more about what Fairfield County offers. This is truly a special place, and I feel blessed that we get to raise our little guy {and future kiddos?} here.
So thanks so much for stopping by! Looking forward to hearing from yβall soon!

I wish I loved to organize and reorganize! I’m thinking a top 10 ways to stay organized when you have kids would make a great post!! Looking forward to more.
Hi Jessica! I’m a clean/neat freak as well….second baby and no end to my obsessions in sight. π Let me know if you ever figure out how to let that one go.
Hi Kat! Oh dear, it doesn’t get any better with baby #2?! π I’m trying so hard to find a balance but it’s still a daily struggle. We’ll see what happens!
