Where to eat pizza in Fairfield County “Welcome to Connecticut, Home of the Pizza Capital of the United States” is a sign I see as I drive home from work, crossing the border from Westchester County, NY, to Fairfield County, CT. It makes me smile each time. As a native New Yorker, I am happy to raise my kids in a place recognized for its top-quality pizza. Whether you’re celebrating National Pizza Day on February 9, ordering delivery to avoid cooking, or just craving a pie right now,  here’s a round-up of Fairfield County Mom contributors’ favorite pizza spots!

  1. Glenville Pizza – They have the best salad pizza and lasagna slices! They also have amazing white pizza with broccoli and spinach.
  2. Fortina – A fun restaurant in the Harbor Point community! It is very popular, especially in warmer months.
  3. Coalhouse Pizza – Pizza with unique flavor combinations and clever names! Some favorites are Strong Persuader and Shoo Shoo Baby! They have great beer and cocktail lists, too.
  4. Colony Grill – Widely known for their thin crust pizza, they also have locations in Norwalk and Fairfield. Be sure to ask for the hot oil.
  5. Planet Pizza – Their pizza is New York-style, and you can order it by the slice. Most locations have the feel of a NYC pizzeria with simple decor. Check out your closest spot in Fairfield, Greenwich, Stamford, Westport, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Danbury, or Shelton.
  6. Nick’s Pizza – Nick’s has been serving thin-crust pizza with over 40 toppings since 1969. It’s great for takeout, and the restaurant has a casual, family-friendly atmosphere!
  7. Hope Pizza Restaurant – They serve great Greek-style pizza and delicious chicken Parmesan!
  8. Sally’s Apizza– If you can’t travel to the original New Haven location, visit the large space in Stamford or Fairfield. One will also be opening soon in Norwalk.

NEW CANAAN & DARIEN

  1. Locali – A fun local spot with great outdoor seating!
  2. Joe’s Pizza – Joe’s is New Canaan’s original pizza spot! They have been family-owned and operated since 1967! They’ve also been voted the best pizza in town.
  3. Dante’s Pizza – This casual eatery is one of four establishments inside the Pine Street Concessions.
  4. Post Corner Pizza – They serve a yummy Sicilian-style pizza and offer a welcoming family vibe.
  5. Pinocchio Pizza – The owner and pizzaiolo, Bruno DiFabio’s Italian roots and passion for Italian food and pizza run deep! There are two locations (Wilton and New Canaan).

NORWALK & WILTON 

  1. Romanacci Craft Bar & Kitchen (Fairfield, Norwalk, Trumbull, and Westport) – Each location has a great vibe, whether you’re sitting at the bar or a table. The massively large pizza is perfect for parties or sports games. Be sure to ask for it double-cut.
  2. Jordan’s Restaurant & Pizza – Come to either of the Norwalk locations for thick Greek-style pizza and the most delectable and filling Kitsa Pella salad in a pizza bread bowl! Their salad dressing is divine and sold at Stew Leonard’s.
  3.  Massimo Italian Corner – This adorable shop has the friendliest staff. In addition to their delicious pizza, they have great salads and coffee. Other locations are in Trumbull and Bridgeport.
  4. Magic 5 Pie Co.– Situated right by the East Norwalk train station, this is a fun place. It is very kid-friendly and has live music in warmer months.
  5. Coals – They serve grilled pizza with a range of toppings. Their wings are also really good!
  6. Norwalk Pizza & Pasta – True story: I had to order extra pies for my son’s birthday party after they devoured the first four pies in minutes. That should speak for itself.
  7. BJ Ryan’s East – Their thin-crust pizza is a local favorite, going back to the earlier days of Partner’s. They also have a chicken parm pizza with breaded chicken as the crust!
  8. Red Rooster Pub – They have locations in Wilton and Ridgefield. It offers pizza with a thinner crust and some fun topping combinations.
  9. Wilton Pizza – This family-owned and operated restaurant is known for its yummy pizza and pasta. They also cater and offer portable pizza parties.
  10. Tooty Patza Pizza – Located in the Georgetown section of Wilton, they are a fun family restaurant that serves thin-crust pizza.
  11. Parlor – This casual, family-friendly restaurant serves up Neapolitan-style pizza.

WESTPORT & FAIRFIELD

  1. Emmy Squared – This Detroit-style pizza is so so so good. It is more of a date spot with fancy cocktails, but they have a kids’ menu with pizza sticks.
  2. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana– Again, there is no need to travel to New Haven when you can eat the good stuff closer to home. There are locations in Stamford and Danbury as well.
  3. Pizza Mediterranean – A favorite go-to for delivery! Fast and fresh, authentic pizza.
  4. Angelina’s Trattoria – They serve traditional Italian cuisine and New York-style pizza.
  5. Luigi’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria – They have the largest rotating pizza oven in town and offer a family-style menu, perfect for passing around the table!
  6. Pizza Lyfe – Classic New York-style pizza with excellent sandwiches and salads. My personal faves are the meatball appetizer and the Caesar salad.
  7. Riko’s Pizza – Several contributors rave about their thin-crust pies and say the salad pizza is the best around! It’s a fun family atmosphere, too! Locations are also in Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, and Darien.

BRIDGEPORT, STRATFORD & TRUMBULL

  1. Trumbull Pizza Company – They have been serving pizza and Italian dishes to Fairfield County for 48 years!
  2. Brewport – Serves thin-crust pizza and has local Connecticut beers on tap. Some contributors recommend The Barrett and The Brewmaster pies. The mashed potato topping is also a fave.
  3. Fire Engine Pizza Company – Located in Bridgeport and Shelton, they serve specialized pizzas and have a great food truck for parties and events.
  4. Pizza Co – This restaurant serves brick-oven pizza in a vintage gas station. It also has a full-service bar and craft beers.
  5. The Parlor – Owned by a Stratford family, they have delicious brick oven pizza. The wings and fries are also amazing!
  6. Crown Pizza – Serving New York-style pizza, which you can get on wheat or cauliflower crusts. They support many local causes.

NEWTOWN & DANBURY 

  1. Good Old Days Pizzeria & Cocktail Den – With fun pies like Bikini Bod and Rock, Paper, Caesar, and live music every Friday, it is obviously a good time!
  2. Gino’s Parlor of Sandy Hook – Serves a wide range of specialty pizzas, and you can never go wrong with the simple Margherita.
  3. Newtown Pizza Palace – Serves a variety of pizza styles from Greek to thin crust and gluten-free. 
  4. My Place Pizza and Restaurant – A relaxed, family-friendly restaurant serving delicious pies and other dishes.
  5. Martino’s Pizzeria & Deli – Another former New Yorker contributor raves about this hidden gem.
  6. Tuscanero’s Pizza – They have a huge selection of specialty pies and make really good mini calzones.
  7. Bambino’s Pizza & Pasta – The owner grew up making pizza with his uncle in Mamaroneck, NY, and has brought that authentic New York taste to Danbury!

BETHEL, BROOKFIELD & NEW FAIRFIELD

  1. Stanziato’s – Wood-fired pizza with an array of creative toppings. A casual restaurant with a great bar menu!
  2. Portobello Restaurant & Pizza – Voted the number one pizza in Brookfield! The buffalo chicken pizza is the absolute best! Note – they are cash only!
  3. Famous Pizza – They specialize in a thicker crust for carb lovers! Their gluten-free pizza is delicious, as is the white pizza with garlic and spinach specialty pie.
  4. Victoria’s Wood Fired Pizza – This wood-fired pizza joint is located at P.T. Barnum Square, and they have a great pizza truck available for parties and events!
  5. Portofino – They have served New York-style pizza to New Fairfield for over 30 years. This family-friendly restaurant also has a large room to rent for parties and events.
