Freshly baked bagels.As a mom of three energetic kids and a former New Yorker, my bagel adventures often combine a quest for authentic NY-style perfection and poplar kid-approved options like rainbow bagels. Fairfield County is teeming with stellar bagel shops, and thanks to Fairfield County Mom contributors, I’ve compiled a roundup of must-try spots for bagel lovers of all ages.

Popup Bagels {Greenwich, Newtown, Fairfield, Redding & Westport}

Two-time winner of the Brooklyn Bagelfest “Best Bagel” award, Popup Bagels has mastered the balance of a crispy crust and soft, airy center. Their unique weekly schmears (scallion cream cheese is a standout!) add flair to the experience. My personal favorite is the salt bagel—it’s perfect in its simplicity. Known for its pop-up model, initially only available via pre-order on weekends, this shop redefines the “not famous but known” mantra.

J Bagels {Trumbull}

If you’re looking for a light yet crispy bagel with a friendly neighborhood vibe, J Bagels is your spot. Kids are obsessed with their fun rainbow bagels, while moms gravitate toward their freshly baked classics. The staff is always welcoming and friendly!

Village Bagels {Norwalk}

A family favorite that combines mom-and-dad-approved options (whole wheat everything and onion bagels) with kid-pleasers like rainbow bagels. Their olive cream cheese is a must-try. Bonus points for supporting local school teams—talk about community spirit!

Bagel Boutique {Stratford}

Bagel Boutique nails the cozy café vibe with its house-ground coffee beans and freshly brewed coffee. Pairing their classic bagels with a steaming cup of coffee makes for a perfect start to the day.

Liz Sue Bagels {Stamford & Norwalk}

Liz Sue serves up bagels with heart. Their egg sandwich on a toasted onion bagel gets glowing reviews. Whether in Stamford or Norwalk, expect consistent quality and flavor that locals rave about.

Bagelman {Danbury}

Bagelman is a staple in the Danbury area, perfect for those craving a traditional NY-style bagel. Their everything bagel has the right amount of seasoning, while their fresh cream cheese options elevate every bite.

Uncle Leo’s & Rosny Gourmet {Georgetown & Wilton}

Uncle Leo’s is known for its classic crisp-style bagels and donuts. It’s a local landmark that expanded to Wilton on Rt. 7. If you’re feeding a donut lover, this is your spot!

Bagel Delight {Newtown}

A true local gem, Bagel Delight is beloved for its community ties and the legendary Eunice, who even has a dedicated “Eunice Day.” Rainbow bagels keep the kids happy, while my husband swears by their everything bagels. As for me? Their salt bagels hit all the right notes.

Fletch’s Bagels {Ridgefield}

Fletch’s is a top choice for crisp-style bagels that deliver a satisfying crunch. Their cream cheese bar is the cherry on top, offering a variety of creative spreads.

Stew Leonard’s {Norwalk & Danbury}

While known for their groceries, Stew Leonard’s surprises with delicious bagels. The French toast bagel is a standout sweet treat, making it a fun option for kids and adults alike.

NY Best Bagels {Brookfield}

This hidden gem offers NY-style bagels that live up to their name. Simple yet flavorful, they’re perfect for those who love the classics done right.

Chef’s Table {Fairfield}

Their sourdough bagels are made from scratch every day in-house with gluten-free options.

Fairfield County doesn’t just deliver NY-style bagels—it elevates the experience with community ties, creative flavors, and fun options for the whole family. Whether you’re a purist chasing the perfect salt bagel or a parent on a rainbow bagel quest, there’s something for everyone here. So grab your coffee, load up on schmears, and enjoy the bagel bliss!
