Dear Momma, where did time take you?
Maybe to the chapel,
When love lightened your life and redefined the spirit.
Maybe to a look from your newborn,
The moment your realities collided and a bit of you left your soul.
Maybe to a scream that pierced the heart,
While tiredness invaded the night, and days blurred into one another.
Maybe time took you to magic smiles,
As a glance from the bus window calmed the unease and melted your being.
Maybe to the kitchen table,
Where homework prevailed, and milk spilled,
Where sometimes dinner burned and inside jokes formed.
Maybe to crossfires with teens on the verge,
Pointed out the door and towards determination and autonomy.
Maybe to an empty bedroom,
Where college pendants hang, and drawers are empty,
Where nostalgia is brimming, and pride explodes.
Dear Momma, maybe time took you forward, along for a wild ride,
Where hope carries, and wonders never cease,
Bumpy on the way but towards world’s endless love.
