Will I Be My Valentine?

0

A woman holding her hands to her heart. I see all the pink hearts and red balloons before I even turn down the aisle in the grocery store. It is officially the month of love. Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. Who doesn’t love love?

As mass-marketed as Valentine’s Day can get, it can be a wonderful opportunity to shower your loved ones with love and show appreciation for them.

But maybe it’s time to show yourself some love and appreciation, too.

When was the last time you felt truly alive? The last time you laughed so hard you had tears coming out of your eyes? Or the last time you showed yourself compassion and grace instead of being so hard on yourself?

Giving to others feels amazing. It’s a natural impulse to show kindness to the ones we love. Extending love and tokens of appreciation to others, especially those we love, fills our hearts to the brim.

But the most powerful source of love comes from fully caring for and loving ourselves.

There’s the expression that hurt people hurt people. But what about loved people? The more you are filled with love, the more you can’t help but spill it over to those around you.

And maybe that’s the very best gift you can give your loved ones – a happy, whole version of yourself.

So this Valentine’s Day, as you begin to pile boxes of chocolates and loving cards into your cart, why not add a little something for yourself? Better yet, ditch the store altogether and treat yourself to an experience that brings immense joy and wonder or a wonderful sense of peace and wellness, whatever that looks like for you.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
