A Note to My Children’s Second Grade Teachers

0

It’s almost the end of summer, and I am having a hard time grasping that my babies are going into third grade in the fall.

Second grade was magical. It was a year filled with growth, not only in their academics, but in their friendships, independence, and personalities.

Both of you were a huge part of that. Thank you for recognizing their talents and helping them develop into the best versions of their eight-year-old selves.

Thank you for recognizing they have two homes, always remembering to send home a second set of papers or projects specifically for each of us.

Thank you for listening to our concerns as parents for their emotional well-being and for doing your best to watch out for those concerns in the classroom.

Thank you for fostering and encouraging their curiosity and love for learning.

To Twin A’s teacher: Your positive energy and exuberant personality were exactly what my shy girl needed to allow her to participate in school with confidence. You recognized and encouraged her to develop her writing and storytelling skills, something that brings her so much joy. She was always happy at the end of the day when she had the chance to write.

To Twin B’s teacher: Your mothering nature is exactly what my energetic girl needed to feel safe and heard in your classroom. She is always looking for the next thing she can learn, and you were able to keep her engaged by teaching her division and cursive, which she was always excited to show me when she got home.

I couldn’t have chosen two better teachers for my girls this year. They are so ready to take on third grade next year.

Thank you for loving them.

Thank you for teaching them.

Thank you for preparing them so well.
